What We're Looking For

Ayers Valley Farm raises pasture-raised beef, pork and chicken and ships it frozen to subscribers across the country. We're growing fast, from about 2,300 orders a month today to 8,000–9,000 orders a month by spring. We're hiring an Operations & Fulfillment Lead to own everything that happens in our shop, so the founders can focus on growth and the farm.

You'll lead our fulfillment crew and the farm store, own inventory accuracy, and own the systems that get every box packed right, frozen solid and shipped on time. This is a hands-on leadership role. On ship days you'll be on the floor alongside the team. The rest of the week you'll fix whatever slowed you down so it doesn't happen again.

What You'll Do

  • Run packing and shipping three days a week (Monday–Wednesday): picking, packing, dry ice, palletizing and UPS pickups.
  • Own inventory accuracy: organized freezers, regular cycle counts, and on-hand counts that match our systems. Work with our supply chain planner so we always know what we have.
  • Keep the shop, freezers and pack stations clean, neat and organized every day.
  • Lead, schedule and train the fulfillment crew, including our local high school and vocational students. Set clear standards and hold the team to them.
  • Oversee the farm store and its staff.
  • Manage the UPS relationship and file claims for lost or damaged packages.
  • Partner with our supply chain planner to manage third-party fulfillment partners as we add shipping locations, including inventory transfers and daily order flow.
  • Build and run a weekly scorecard: on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, damage and warm-arrival rate, cost per order and labor hours.
  • When a problem keeps coming back, fix it today, then put a checklist, an owner and a measure in place so it doesn't return.

What You Bring

  • (Preferred) Experience running a warehouse, fulfillment or shipping operation. Frozen or perishable goods is a strong plus.
  • (Preferred) A track record of keeping inventory accurate: cycle counts, reconciliation, and fixing the root cause of discrepancies.
  • Experience leading hourly or part-time teams, including training new and young workers.
  • Comfort with Shopify, shipping software and spreadsheets, and a practical approach to tools and automation that improves execution without adding headcount.
  • Sound judgment about what to decide yourself and when to bring the founders a recommendation.
  • Clear communication, strong follow-through and a record of holding teams to measurable standards.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in freezer and cold-storage conditions.

What You'll Deliver

  • Every order ships on its scheduled day, frozen and correct, with damage and warm-arrival rates falling month over month.
  • Inventory is accurate and reconciled, with on-hand counts matching our systems, so we never sell what we don't have.
  • The shop is clean, organized and runs on written processes, a weekly scorecard and a crew schedule that works without the founders.
  • Cost per order goes down as volume grows.
  • Fulfillment scales from about 2,300 to 8,000–9,000 orders a month without a drop in quality, whether we ship from the farm, a 3PL partner or both.

Location

On-site at our farm in Russellville, Ohio (about an hour east of Cincinnati). Ship days are Monday–Wednesday. Start date: before December 2026.

Compensation

$55,000–$85,000 base salary, depending on experience.
